Mission

The department's institutional goal is to lead the discipline of history and historiography by educating individuals who will produce competent scientific studies, gaining recognition both in our country and internationally. One of the most important goals of the department is to develop a high-quality understanding and knowledge of history that is open to innovation, sensitive to the requirements of the age, and multi-voiced, with common goals together with the students in the program. Additionally, the department strives to contribute to the country's scientific development through the competent research conducted by its academicians, while also meeting the academy's requirements by enhancing the intellectual quality of the field.

Vision

The Department of History, which aims to contribute to the quality of life of society by producing universal knowledge within the framework of contemporary education, aims to educate historians in line with its mission. During their undergraduate education, our students learn Ottoman Turkish at a good level along with one of the selected source languages ​​such as Arabic, Persian, Russian, Romanian, Ancient Greek at a basic level, register for double major or minor programs, specialize in another field along with history, and thus increase their knowledge in disciplines that will support historiography; The vision of our department is to discover different cultures and academic traditions abroad with the Erasmus and Mevlana programs, and in different universities in Turkey with the Farabi program, to gain information about various periods of Turkish and World history, to learn various methods and philosophies of historiography, and to reinforce the knowledge learned with daily and academic life.
